Bachelor of Science degree in Maritime Studies

This is a new program at the Maritime College designed for students with an interest in the humanities and the sea, but who do not necessarily want to go to sea as a licensed Merchant Marine Officer.  Civilian students opting for Maritime Studies typically are interested in careers in admiralty law, maritime publishing, teaching, museum studies, or careers with environmental organizations.  Students in the program will be prepared for graduate school in a variety of subjects including history, literature, business and the arts.   They may also choose to attend law school.  Others will be ready for entry level positions in publishing, museums or businesses whose emphasis is the maritime trades.  Internships will serve as a transition between the world of academic studies and the maritime industry.  Naval officer candidates who complete this program will have received a wide-ranging introduction to the scientific, political, and cultural facets of the maritime environment.

This program can be tailored for students starting in the summer, fall or spring semesters.
